Wright Stain
Details
Wright Stain is a modified Romanowsky stain used for the staining of cellular elements in peripheral blood and bone marrow smears. This polychromatic stain is a mixture of methylene blue and eosin dyes. The eosin dye stains the cytoplasm of cells an orange to pink color and the methylene blue stains the nucleus varying shades of blue to purple to differentiate white blood cells. Red blood cells appear red-orange. This staining protocol requires a buffer and rinse and is suitable for automated stainers or manual staining methods. Wright stain can be used for urine cytology and fine needle aspirate (FNA) cell preparations. Our Wright formula performs best with our pH6.8 buffer.
